U18 FSCI Phoenix Scrimmages Randolph Macon College

The U18 FSCI Phoenix Orange tied Randolph Macon College (NCAA Division 3) 1-1 in a preseason scrimmage in Ashland VA on Monday August 29.

The format of the preseason scrimmage consisted of three 30 minute periods with Randolph Macon College playing a different starting 11 for each 30 minute period. Lindsay Armentrout scored the only goal for the U18 Phoenix in the opening 30 minute period. Randolph Macon College scored the equalizer in the second 30 minute period.

The scrimmage against Randolph Macon College was the second scrimmage against a college team setup as part of the FSCI Phoenix College Recruitment Program. The U18s had previously scrimmaged Bridgwater College on Thursday August 25. The Club is proud of the effort that the U18s displayed during both the college scrimmages. These scrimmages were the first scrimmages between an FSCI Phoenix team and a college team.

The college scrimmages provided the U18s a great perspective on how much quicker the pace of the game is at the collegiate level compared to the travel soccer level. The U18 FSCI Phoenix, consisting of players that are upperclassmen at the local area high schools, competed against older and more experienced players that compete at the NCAA Division 3 college level.
